How it works

What happens in a run, how scoring works, and where to get help.

One incident, played twice

Each exercise is one incident at Brightwater Point Bank, a fictional mid-sized bank. You play it twice: once on ordinary storage with a nightly backup, and once with Myota. The questions and the scoring are the same in both runs, so you can compare them fairly.

Starting a run

Open Ready to play and press Start on a run. It opens on the Briefing, which tells you who you are, what has happened so far today, and what you have to work with.

Inside a run

Everything happens in five channels, listed on the left of the run:

Briefing
The situation and a timeline of the day so far.
Email
People at the bank write to you as the incident unfolds. Reply when you can answer them.
Tools
The systems you work with. Click a tool, type the word shown as its hint, and press enter.
Hints
A nudge appears here if you seem stuck on a step. If you are moving along, you may never see one.
Report
The incident report. It appears partway through the run, and every question needs an answer.

Finishing

When the business is running again, the Briefing says the incident is resolved and shows how the two runs compare. Fill in the incident report, then press Close the incident. That ends the run.

Time and pausing

Each run gives you up to two hours of play. Most take 30 to 35 minutes. Need to step away? Press Pause at the top right of the run. The clock stops, and paused time never counts against you. Come back with Resume, on the run itself or from In progress. If the two hours of play run out, the run ends with Time's up. It still counts, without the speed bonus.

Scoring

Each run is worth up to 150 points: up to 100 for the steps of the incident you complete, and up to 50 for finishing quickly. Only your first attempt at each run counts on the scoreboard, because a second try means you already know the answers.

Your results

After a run, open Completed and press Results. You will see how the incident ended in each run, next to your own points and playing time.

Your privacy

The scoreboard shows your first name only. Your email address is how you log in, and other players never see it.
